School Hours
Students attend school from 7:25 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Car-riders may enter the building at 7:10 a.m.  Instruction begins at 7:25 a.m.

School Attendance
Your child’s regular and prompt attendance is important to his/her success in school.  Please view school as a top priority and make sure your child attends daily except in cases of illness or emergency.

Absences
Whenever your child is absent, you must send a note explaining the absence when he/she returns to school.  After ten absences, absences will be marked unexcused unless a doctor’s excuse is provided.

Folders
Your child must bring his/her binder to school daily. Please check binder nightly, remove all checked papers, and sign and return any papers requiring your signature. There will be an assignment sheet given weekly with the daily assignments. There will be no homework on Wednesdays or Fridays. Please sign the assignment sheet on Mondays. Please send all notes, doctor excuses, and money in your child’s binder.

Every Tuesday students will get a “Take Home Tuesday” folder. This folder contains all GRADED work. This work is what we have put in our gradebook for the previous week. There will be a signature sheet on the front of the folder. Please take out work and sign the signature sheet beside the date. Return the signed folder on Wednesday.

Standards Based Grading
This school year all Graves County Elementary Schools are changing to the Standards Based Grading System. The purpose of Standards Based Grading is to raise student achievement by clearly communicating student’s progress towards the Common Core Standards. This year student progress will not be represented by a number, percentage, or letter grade. Students will receive a score of Mastery, Partial Mastery, or Non Mastery per each Common Core Standard.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about this change. We know this is a very different way to monitor student progress. We will be happy to help you in any way. Here are some online places to find the Common Core Academic Standards.
The official website for Common Core:
http://www.corestandards.org/
There is also an app called Common Core Standards Mastery Connect

Changes in Transportation
If you plan to pick up a child who normally rides the bus or you wish for your child to ride a different bus than usual, you MUST send a written note to school.  If we do not receive a written note, we sre forced to send your child home by his/her normal mode of transportation.  In the event of an emergency throughout the day that requires you to make transportation changes, please call the office no later than 1:30 p.m.

Breakfast

Breakfast time for our Fourth Grade is 7:10-7:25. Students will report to the cafeteria first thing each morning. Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria.

Lunch
Lunch time for our fourth grade is 11:15-11:40. Students may buy lunch at school or bring lunch from home. Our cafeteria has a computerized account for each child. Each child’s account is accessed by his/her last four-digit Social Security Number. You may pay for meals (breakfast and lunch combined) in any increment you choose (weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.). There is an online system now available called My School Bucks. You may go to www.myschoolbucks.com to register for an account.
